Well, yesterday started with rain so it was time to visit the local museum in the morning. All free of charge and really well done. Lots of interesting things about flora and fauna and the Maori culture. And wasn’t the timing perfect? When I left the museum the sun was out again. As New Plymouth is right at the sea there is of course a coastal path running alongside. Walkers, dogs, people on bicycles and all sorts of stuff you move forward these days. But no trouble or mix ups. Even though it was heaving with people everybody was well behaved and I even dared to eat an ice cream while walking. But after a while I had enough hustle and bustle and drove a bit further out of town to a lovely garden which was inspired by English gardening – fine by me \ud83d\ude01<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The evening was nice and relaxed with a tasty late lunch by the sea. Today I woke up to bright blue skies and sunshine. Not much wind so a real summer’s day \u2600\ufe0f With Taranaki mountain looking upon us everyday I thought I need to take a closer look. So I drove around it with two stops along the way. Another garden and a garden with rainforest plants. Both very different but beautiful. So a lot of walking today. Driving along got me past a town called Stratford. And yes, it is named in memory and honour of William Shakespeare and Stratford upon Avon. Many things in New Zealand remind me of the UK, but Stratford nailed it. Almost every character of a Shakespeare play can be found as well as Kent Terrace and Croydon Street. Brings back nice memories…..\ud83d\ude0a<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Well, nevertheless it is New Years Eve. I thought about going into New Plymouth as there is the Festival of Light still going but then when I came back to my B&B I was invited to a Barbeque with the family. So I preferred that and it was great! The festival will be on the whole week and probably not as crowded as today. There won’t be fireworks so it will be a quiet start to the New year which is perfect. I rather keep my energy for exploring more tomorrow. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
So here we go the last two hours of 2019. Then bring it on 2020! \ud83c\udf7e\ud83c\udf86\ud83c\udf40\ud83d\udc37<\/p>\n\n\n\n
